I heard a great message in church today, that you can apply in your own life regardless of your faith. Of course, if you have faith in God it will be much easier to pull this off. The speaker, Francis Anfuso a pastor from Sacremento, presented several illustrations to make the point that you decide how to handle your circumstances. The economy is what it is. The real estate market is what it is. Circumstances in each our own lives are whatever they are. Rev. Anfuso's premise is that we are each perfectly positioned to take advantage of whatever circumstances we face. He actually wrote a book titled "Perfectly Positioned."

Again, as I said if you are a person of faith, this should be a lot easier to grasp. If not, it is at the very least encouragement to work at changing your circumstances. This is one of the reasons I title my blog RealEstateOptimist. Rev. Anfuso just helped me verbalize it better, I hope. You can let circumstance dictate your life, or you can choose to change your circumstances. He referred to a study of highly successful people that found that 95% of them had to overcome significant obstacles to achieve success. Just look at Edison - he tried over 2,000 combinations of filament to create the light bulb. When asked how it felt to fail over 2,000 times, he said that he had not failed at all, but found 2,000 ways not to make a light bulb.
