Mattamy homes is the new builder in Baldwin Park. They may be new to Baldwin Park and Orlando, but they are not new to building. Mattamy is Canada's largest home builder. They must be pretty good at it too, because they have won a few JD Power customer satisfaction awards as well. They also are not new to the US or to Florida. They are already building in several states and in the northern part of the sunshine state. So far all they have here in Baldwin Park is their construction trailor, but it is the nicest one I have ever seen - seriously.

In Baldwin Park they are building City Homes, which are priced very well. The price range here is starting in the $240,000 range compared with the other new city homes in the $300,000 price range. It is not a location issue, because they are basically being built a block away from each other in the same neighborhood. While there is not a single foundation poured or block in place, I doubt there are significant differences in the construction. There are two big advantages the Canadian company has over the existing builder. First, the Canadian dollar has been in a strong position relative to the US dollar making US goods and land a great deal. Second, the Canadian builder was able to pick the building lots up for a good price in the down economy. Their costs to build will be in line with any other builder, so the big advantage they are gaining is in the cost of the dirt. The $60,000 price difference should give them a real advantage these days with everyone looking for a deal.
