Experienced Guide - Real Estate Agent

Whether you are thinking of selling or buying a home, there are more websites than you can shake a stick at with information to help you with your purchase or sale. There is Realtor.com, a myriad of third party real estate sites, broker sites like Remax.com and of course all the agent websites. Each has information and advice on how to best get from point A to point B in your real estate journey. There are some folks who may even question why they need an agent with so many resources now available online. Some people see the agent as nothing more than someone with a lockbox key.

An experienced agent, however, can make all the difference in the world. Much of what is available in the websites you may visit is nothing more than a mash-up of available public records, MLS data and GPS. I don't even know that you can truly call it information. It is really just a bunch of data that has been run through different algorithms to come up with an average. That average may not be very applicable in your local market. A river may average three feet deep, but cross at the wrong place and you could be in over your head. Many individual agent websites have more insight into what is actually happening in their local market, especially if they offer market information and advice in their blog.

Even with that local information the local real estate landscape can be challenging to maneuver on your own. An experienced agent can be a valuable guide and help you avoid likely pitfalls or dead ends. They can help you make sense of the all the internet noise, and keep you on the best path to get to your point B. Buying or selling, I always recommend speaking with two or three agents to find the one you feel best about working with.
